‘Ack! The Nantucket Duckling’ is available as a free download.

New York, NY – Author A.K. Spurway is pleased to announce that she is giving away the e-version of her delightful new children’s book ‘Ack! The Nantucket Duckling’ free, for a limited time only during the COVD-19 pandemic.

With an important message to convey, the story is about a duckling who learns that being brave and doing things differently can be a good thing.

“We’re undergoing times of great stress and uncertainty right now,” says Spurway. “For children, things are especially worrisome and confusing with having to cope with so many changes. So that’s why I wrote about my little buddy Ack, who has a big, brave story to tell about the power of being different. It brings a message of love and inclusiveness, and I’m hoping it will put a smile on more than just a few faces.”

The free download makes ‘Ack! The Nantucket Duckling’ perfect for any moms, dads, grandparents or teachers who have an iPad or Kindle.

Set on the island of Nantucket, the story is based on the true story of the Nantucket duckling parade. Beautifully illustrated by talented English illustrator Jacqueline East, the book is already receiving rave reviews:

“My children loved the story of Ack the Nantucket duckling, and learned a valuable lesson – we should be proud of our differences. With its captivating illustrations and engaging plot, this book will certainly be read repeatedly,” says one reviewer.

About the Author

A busy mother of three, A.K. Spurway began her career working at a nonprofit, earned her Master’s in Political Science, and volunteered with the Red Cross in the aftermath of the Sri Lankan tsunami and Hurricane Katrina – profound experiences which taught her that life can change in an instant and that every day is a gift.

Diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy in 2004, a condition which changed her appearance and the movement of her facial expressions, Spurway found out what it’s like to be treated differently, and not always kindly. As a result, her first children’s book ‘Ack! The Nantucket Duckling’ conveys a heartwarming message that all people should be loved and accepted just as they are.

Spurway is currently working on an idea Ack gave her, a clothing line that’s about being daring, different, and yourself.
