In the past, we had one of the record hottest decades, apart from millions of creatures in danger of extinction. In the face of such environmental challenges, NHU is properly managing the impact of its own business on the environment, and contributing to green development from product selection to process design to maintain its sustainable development. Starting from the concept of “green chemistry and responsibility care”, we have actively practiced circular economy and promoted the realization of sustainable development with technology and management innovation.

A major principle of circular economy is comprehensive utilization. NHU implemented advanced technologies such as high-vacuum distillation, supercritical reaction, and continuous reaction to utilize the intermediates. NHU’s amino acid process introduced green chemistry principles at the research and development stage, improved atomic economy, developed green processes, and comprehensively utilized by-products to achieve the best use of materials.

In terms of energy conservation and emission reduction, another major principle of circular economy, we have achieved environmental and economic benefits through cascade utilization of energy, energy-saving technology and energy-saving equipment. NHU optimized the cascade utilization of steam energy in the production. Based on the original medium and high pressure steam, the waste heat was fully utilized, and the 0.3MPa steam pipe network was added with less cost. At the same time, some low-grade steam which cannot be used in the original workshop was prepared into 0.3MPa steam by different methods. These steam can be used as heat tracing and low temperature heat source in technology after being collected together, so as to reduce the consumption of high-grade steam and achieve the purpose of energy saving.

The ultimate goal of practicing circular economy is to completely eliminate the waste in the production process. All along, NHU has been working towards this aspect. We have used advanced biological treatment technology for biochemical treatment of waste water, and cooperated with colleges and institutes to develop intermediate reuse technology.

NHU adheres to circular economy and sustainable development through technological innovation, and its efforts has been appreciated and granted many honors, such as the “top ten enterprises” in the citizen model list of China’s petroleum and chemical enterprises, the model award of responsibility care for China’s green chemical special action, the outstanding enterprise in environmental protection verification of Listed Enterprises, and the green enterprise in Zhejiang Province…

NHU will continue to adhere to the circular economy system, continue to practice the balance between development and environmental protection, and maintain sustainable development. In the future, please look forward to a NHU, better than ever.
