Her name is Isabella Germain, and her destiny will toss her into to the arms of an American businessman named Josh Armand and both their lives will be change.

Author Richard Taylor spins one of the most interesting and insightful reads that will transport you back in history. A wonderful book filled with fabulous descriptions and rich culture of the Philippine Islands, Isabella was born in the Philippines, fell in love with an American who knows both worlds, and can reflect the disorientation of a woman whose life and values are placed in turmoil. Of widely differing cultural experiences and both their lives will involve untangling their differences while trying to build on their love and respect.

The novel, “Eden Lost” centers around the intrigue of an alternate vision of the historical events seen through the eyes of Josh and Isabella, the overwhelming passion between a man and a woman, pulled readers into its orbit during the war. Taylor laced his book with action, romance, and drama, making it a gripping and historically immersing read. Readers of ancient history will find the book an interesting alternative to common history books.

Meet Josh, an American businessman and engineer who has been put on a ship as a replacement because the regular repairman falls sick. Fate brings Josh and Isabella together and the two begin a complicated relationship. Fearing his imminent execution from his Chinese captors, he courageously escaped only by the hand of Isabella.

Taylor will carry us into a series of plot twists of romance and reality. In this novel, he gives a firm identity for his main heroine who has a reputation as a seductress, spy, and things that happened in her life. She struggles with bitterness, unforgiveness, and a brittle faith, making her very relatable. The author also did a great job with character development. He spared no effort providing a vivid mental picture of the scenes, making it more enjoyable and compelling. You can also tell that he knows his history. The historical reference was accurate, making it entertaining and educational at the same time.
