Jinjin & Rocky voted as “Fan PDs’ most anticipated idol comeback in January”

The user-participating mobile idol fandom app ‘IDOL CHAMP’ opened a poll asking for ‘Fan PDs most anticipated idol comeback in January’ from December 30, 2021, to January 13, 2022.
Receiving 41.70% out of a total of 135,484 votes, ASTRO’s unit group Jinjin & Rocky, who made their unit group debut with their first mini-album ‘Restore’ on January 17th, was voted as ‘Fan PDs most anticipated idol comeback in January.’
Jinjin & Rocky, a two-member male duo signed under Fantagio, is a sub-unit of the six-member boy group ASTRO, who debuted in August 2015. Following the debut of sub-unit Moonbin & Sanha in 2020, they are the second project unit consisting of ASTRO’s leader and main rapper Jinjin alongside main dancer and lead rapper Rocky.
Known to have also written and composed most of ASTRO songs themselves, Jinjin & Rocky participated in the lyric writing, composing, and producing process for all the songs in this unit album, raising fans’ expectations even before the album release.
Their first mini-album ‘Restore’ is an album consisting of a total of 5 songs and prays for the recovery of everyone’s daily lives based on Jinjin & Rocky’s cheerful energy, which is different to that of ASTRO. The title song ‘Just Breathe’ is a funky dance-pop genre with witty lyrics, an exciting rhythm, and a bright popular melody that all add to the fun. The song cheerfully expresses the desire of the modern people, who are tired of their repetitive lives and wish for freedom full of energy and leisure as before.
Describing themselves as ‘idols who know how to have fun’, Jinjin & Rocky continue their cheerful journey by immediately topping major South Korean music sites and global music charts such as iTunes Charts since their album release.
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN’s Woozi was unfortunately voted 2nd place following Jinjin & Rocky as ‘Fan PDs most anticipated idol comeback in January’ by receiving 28.71% of the votes while ENHYPEN (9.42%), Kep1er (9.07%), Wei’s Kim Yo Han (2.92%) and others were subsequently ranked. The voting results can also be found on the global Korean wave community GStarLive.
In ‘Idol Champ’, where this vote was held, with Big Issue Korea, a fan PD poll is being held on the topic of ‘Which idol can be forgiven even for free riding on a group project’. A total of 12 male and female idol candidates were presented including NU’EST’s Hwang Minhyun, MONSTA X’s Shownu, Pentagon’s Kino, Oh My Girl’s Hyojung, and Kep1er’s Choi Yujin. The idol to rank first place in votes will be given the benefit of a ‘fan-designed’ magazine spread advertisement in The Big Issue.
