Avatree announces the launch of its Genesis Edition NFTs at the VERSE Immersive AR Exhibit, opening February 3, 2022
Avatree is a young Bay Area startup working to tackle climate change at scale by weaving together art, incentives, and community. Avatrees are algorithmic 3D trees that grow by sequestering atmospheric carbon. The company is launching its Genesis Edition NFTs at the Verse Immersive AR gallery on February 3 in San Francisco, alongside artists such as Android Jones, Zed Run, and Scott Musgrove. The 12 collectibles in the Genesis Edition will also be open for auction at OpenSea.
Chetan Nandakumar, the founder of Avatree, explains why his company is focusing on climate action: “The UN states that the planet has until 2030 to make a dramatic reduction in atmospheric carbon to avoid irreversible changes to the climate. Avatree is “Headspace for Climate,” and we’re building a platform to make climate action a fun and dynamic experience. Our 12 Genesis Edition NFTs are minted from our generative algorithm and are viewable as a live, augmented reality experience at the Verse Immersive AR Gallery in San Francisco, beginning February 3, 2022.”
Once the platform goes live in July 2022, Avatree holders will be able to showcase their Avatree on social media, the web or the metaverse, and anyone clicking on it will see a blockchain verified listing of payments made along with the corresponding land used for carbon sequestration.
