Mariya Yurukova, President & CEO of Charity Search Group, was recently selected as Top Fundraising Advocate of the Year for 2023 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for her outstanding leadership, dedication, and commitment to the industry.
Inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself; only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations, and contributions to their communities. All Honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP annual award gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements.
With more than 20 years of fundraising experience, Mariya has certainly proven herself as a seasoned and trusted professional in the fundraising field. She possesses a profound comprehension of the various challenges and opportunities that exist within the nonprofit sector. Mariya is a highly successful executive recruiter with a strong background in fundraising. She has raised over $20 million for the organizations she has represented, showcasing her expertise in this field. Mariya’s dedication to finding the best fit for organizations and candidates of all sizes and skill levels is evident in her work. She collaborates closely with boards and hiring managers to identify the most suitable candidates for success, drawing on her deep understanding of nonprofit management. Additionally, Mariya has developed an extensive network of professionals across North America, allowing her to find the perfect cultural fit for each candidate. Her focus on small and medium-sized nonprofits transitioning leadership further highlights her success in the industry. Her repertoire of previous roles includes Annual Fund Campaign Coordinator at Brock University, Senior Development Officer at York University, and Founder and CEO at Leapfrog Fundraising.
Throughout her illustrious career, Mariya has received many awards and accolades and has been recognized worldwide for her accomplishments. This year she will be considered for the Empowered Woman Award and to be featured in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine. She will be honored at IAOTP’s annual awards gala at the NYC Plaza Hotel this December for her selection as Top Fundraising Advocate of the Year.
Additionally, Mariya takes great pleasure in participating in conferences and providing mentorship to fundraisers to continuously contribute to the fundraising profession. She has been invited to speak at various events. Her work has been published in reputable publications, including but not limited to Currents Magazine, Foundations Magazine, Advancing Philanthropy, and Hilborn Publications.
