MindfulText offers new category of Corporate Offering -(MaaS) Mindfulness as a Service

Silicon Valley technology founder launches science-backed mindfulness technology.

May 7th, 2021 – MindfulText, a technology startup based in Silicon Valley, has announced a new, text-based approach to implementing mindfulness in the workplace. The MindfulText methodology has proven to help improve focus and significantly decrease stress related to the COVID-19 pandemic, which nearly 8 in 10 adults (78%) now say is a major source of stress in their life.

The company is focused on increasing employee wellbeing and productivity with nanolearning, and recently validated its approach through multiple scientific research studies with an accredited university. The MindfulText program delivers original, science-based, interactive content through SMS, maintaining high user retention with a 85% weekly engagement rate.

The founder and CEO of MindfulText is Mark Montalban, a social impact entrepreneur and first generation Filipino-American focused on helping companies and individuals apply mindfulness-based strategies to improve all aspects of work and life. In 2020, Mark left his role and equity stake in global startup accelerator Founder Institute to work on mindfulness innovation full-time. “The future requires a mindful population. In the current landscape, we need mindfulness more than ever to reduce stress and conflict, develop healthy coping mechanisms, and ultimately thrive in any environment. The early results with MindfulText have been extremely positive, and I look forward to helping organizations utilize technology to reap the rewards of mindfulness at work,” said Mark Montalban.

The use of text messages to support health is not new. Doctors have been using it since the early 2000s to nudge patients. Advancements in SMS technology with Apple’s iMessage and Android’s text app have created a new opportunity for a more engaging digital learning experience. In addition, new scientific research supports that nudges sent through text messages can significantly influence behavior.

The latest research and business trends also show a deep need for more innovation in the mental health and wellness spaces. Gallup statistics estimate the cost of unengaged employees costing between $960 billion and $1.2 trillion globally. As the pandemic continues through 2021, the world is seeing the highest levels of anxiety and stress reported since the first waves started to hit in March 2020. Furthermore, companies that deploy organized wellness initiatives are seeing healthier financial returns and employees.

In addition to the creation of original content, MindfulText also takes existing programs and turns them into engaging text programs. For additional impact, 1:1 and 1:many virtual sessions can be leveraged.
